Subj:     Korea's Got Talent Ep.1 - Sung-bong Choi
          From: Wimp.com on 6/7/2011 (S751d)

Sung-bong Choi, a 22-year-old manual worker, knocked the
judges' socks off with his amazing voice on "Korea's Got
Talent."  But before that, his story made them (and us)
 cry - a lot.

"I just want to be like a normal person," Choi said.  He
doesn't think he sings very well, but when he does, he
feels like a different person.  You see, Choi was left
in an orphanage when he was 3 years old and ran away
when he was 5 after being beaten.  He sold gum and energy
drinks on the streets of Korea to survive.  "I slept on
the stairs or public toilet for 10 years like a dayfly."

Now Choi hopes to be able to go to school and continue singing.

After telling his sad yet remarkable story, he belted out
some powerful vocals, and wowed everyone.

"I just want to give you a hug," says one of the judges
 with tears in her eyes.

He obviously made it through to the next round, and is
being regarded as the next Susan Boyle.

Subj:     The Story of Panyee FC (S740d)
          From: Wimp.com on 3/21/2011
 Source: http://www.wimp.com/soccervillage/

This is a commercial for the Thai Military Bank, though
you wouldn't know it if their logo wasn't at the end of
the commercial.  The video tells the true documentary-style
story of the Panyee youth football club.  In 1986, a group
of kids living in Koh Panyee, a floating town in the south
of Thailand without a scrap of dirt on it, decided they
were sick of just watching soccer on TV - they wanted to
play it themselves.  They didn't let the lack of field
space stop them, however, and their youth soccer league
went on to become one of Thailand's most successful.  This
five minutes film manages to pack in all the drama that a
youth sports movie like the Mighty Ducks would have to
 offer, only it's real and it's a tear-jerker.

Subj:     Banking Crisis In Japan (S147, S344b)
          From: PGSP4LIFE on 11/24/1999

According to inside contacts, the Japanese banking crisis
shows no signs of ameliorating. If anything, it's getting
 worse.

Following last week's news that Origami Bank had folded, we
are hearing that Sumo Bank has gone belly up and Bonsai Bank
plans to cut back some of its branches.  Karaoke Bank is up
for sale and is (you guessed it!) going for a song.

Meanwhile, shares in Kamikaze Bank have nose-dived and 500
back-office staff at Karate Bank got the chop.  Analysts
report that there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank
and staff there fear they may get a raw deal.

Subj:     Shrimp For Japanese Water Plant (S254)
          From: jerry on 12/11/2001
Yokohoma, Japan city officials are placing small shrimp
and killfish, which are sensitive to poison, in tanks at
four water filtration plants at points before the water
 gets distributed.
If the shrimp and killfish are healthy, their electrical
emissions will be steady, but if poisoned this will change
and set off an alarm to alert officials that the water
 needs further testing.

Subj:     Innocent New Delhi Man Spends 14 Years In Jail (S318b)
          From: jerry on 3/2/2003
An innocent New Delhi man spent 14 years in prison, even
after being declared innocent, because no one, including
his family, bothered to tell him or jail authorities that
 he was free to go.

But the nightmare isn't over.  His family doesn't want him
because they say he'll be a financial burden.  "Had he
completed his education, he would have got a good job by
 now.  They spoiled his life."

Subj:     Children's Day
          From: Joke-Of-The-Day.com on 2/12/99
In India, 14th November is celebrated as Children's Day
(It is dedicated in the memory of the first Prime Minister
who loved children).  A kid was asked "Why 14th November is
celebrated as Children's day ?"  He replied with a smirk,
"Because it is 9 months after Valentine's Day"
