Google Maps now have a new 360°,
panorama, streetside view.
In this 360° view, the users
virtually stand in the middle
of any street, able to look
in a full circle around the
location. The imaging
used in the new feature was collected
by a company called Immersive
Media, whose vans travel
throughout the cities in the
USA to collect these photos.
In the search box at the top
enter an address such as
"1422 56 Avenue, Oakland, CA,"
and click the "Search Maps"
button. By clicking the
"+" magnification button six
times, the picture switched
from magnifing the satellite
picture to a 360° photo.
If you go to the address I gave,
you will see the home my grandfather
built for his family
in about 1900.
